Reading Time: 2 minutes
Some unexpected “fame” hit me after I won third place in the RMetS Weather Photographer of the Year 2024 photo contest. If you haven’t seen the blog post yet, I won third place in the Smartphone category of this annual photo contest.
After the winners got announced, I was asked if I would be okay to have my photo and story published in the Amateur Photographer magazine with a few photo tips I could give others.
Of course, I am all in getting published and the word spread about my “glorious” third place in this contest. 😉
Besides the story of my winning picture, I was also asked to provide three tips I could give other photographers. When I read the assignment, I was like, no problem. It is three simple tips. What is the big problem.
Well, as I started thinking about the three tips, the problem started. Which three tips would I give other readers? What kind of knowledge do I expect them to have? I know it is an Amateur Photographer magazine, so most likely amateur photographers will read it. But define an amateur photographer?!
I am sure beginners would also read the magazine, but I came to the conclusion that everyone reading this publication has somewhat of a basic to advanced knowledge of photography and if not, I am sure they would look it up – after all it is an photography magazine and people read it to broaden their horizon.
Now we have established a baseline for knowledge, but it still hits me hard. What advice would I give, and it wouldn’t be just me, it would be every winner of the contest. I wanted to make the three tips simple and unique so there is no overlapping with others. Well, I thought for a long time and wrote down my three tips and sent it over.
Here they are! Read my three tips and the tips of all the other winners in the photo contest. Click on the magazine cover below to open the PDF.
