The San Francisco International Airport shared a photo of an Emirates Airbus A380 taking off into a rainbow. The photo was taken in February of 2024 and I was staying near the airport. Every time I saw a rainbow forming I ran outside and over to the Bay Trail to capture planes taking off from SFO. Thanks to the storms coming through San Francisco, which ultimately caused the rainbows, the airport ran in reverse operation and planes were taking off due South rather than due North.
I was lucky enough to get a rainbow just in time for the departure of this Emirates Airbus A380. It is one of my favorite photos from SFO I took over more than one decade spotting at San Francisco International Airport.
Seems like the social media team has changed and they finally add attribution to the photographer to the picture and not just use it without permission as they have done many years before.
I am glad that they asked if they could share the image on their social media channels and gave them permission to do so. This is how it should be. We all respect each other. The airport gets good content and we photographers get the recognition. Even though, not much came over to my social media channels from posting it. That is totally fine. I am happy enough that the airport’s social media team thought it was a great photo and that many many other people on Instagram and even Facebook liked it and commented on it. It was basically commenting on my picture but on a different channel.
The photo, which you can also find on my Flickr account, was used on Facebook and Instagram. Maybe even other social media sites. If you have seen the picture somewhere else, please let me know. I am curious where it ended up.
