Hello photo friends, I am excited to share that one of my submitted photos made it to the final round of the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards. Hundreds of pictures were submitted and I am one of 40 finalists next to 3 portfolio and video finalists.
It really means a lot to me to make it that far in such a renowned photo contest. On October 23, 2025 the finalists were announced to the press and now all the photos are in the final judging phase. The Over All Winner, Category Winners and Highly Commended Winners will be announced at the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards night on 9th December, 2025 in London at the Oxo Gallery.
From December 10 – 14, 2025 the winners and finalists will be shown at a free exhibition in the Oxo Gallery.

The Photograph
I submitted multiple photos to the contest and this was the one which gut picked by the judges.
It is a photo of a Eastern Lubber Grasshopper which I captured while actually out hunting for photos of alligators in the Florida Everglades.
People’s Choice Award
After the winners are announced in December, a public vote will run until March 2026. I need your help, once the public vote opens, please vote for my photo. I will update the post as soon as the vote goes live.
News Coverage
News outlets all over the world started to report on this year’s finalists of the Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards. Not every outlet published all the finalists, but my photo made it in a lot of news coverage.
Conclusion
I am curious to see how I will do at the end of this contest. I never thought that the image which made it to the final round would be selected in the first place.
Either way it is an honor to have it made so far in this contest. Wish me luck for the final vote.
