Mission & Payload: SDA Tranche 0

Space Development Agency (SDA) was launching its first batch of satellites for its new constellation of satellites in low earth orbit. Tranche 0 – the warfighter immersion tranche consists of 28 Tranche 0 space vehicles, which will require two Falcon 9 launches.

This first launch put 10 of the 28 Tranche 0 space vehicles in low earth orbit (LEO). The second launch, to complete Tranche 0 is slated for the third quarter of 2023.

Initially, the launch was scheduled for March 30th, 2023, but it got aborted three seconds before the launch. The Falcon 9 rocket finally launched on April 2, 2023. Unfortunately, this conflicted with my schedule, and I couldn’t cover the actual launch.
